Budgeting for a wedding can be scary. It’s often something we don’t plan ahead for but wish we did. We wanted to plan beautiful weddings for our daughters, but also knew that we had to keep them affordable. Fortunately, our daughters were interested in helping to pay for some of the costs themselves.
Weddings can be quite expensive, and to look at all the costs at once can be overwhelming. Doing some planning ahead for how the costs are going to be divided can help to reduce some of the load.
We have created a spreadsheet that lists the typical wedding costs and has columns for the bride’s family, the bride, the groom, the groom’s family, and the attendants. The costs typically covered by the bride’s family are shaded in the that column. Similarly for the other parties. These are just suggestions. Each family can make it’s own decisions about how to divide the expenses of the wedding.
This form can be downloaded as a printable or an Excel worksheet. The Excel worksheet has formulas included that will add up the columns for you as you put in your cost estimates.
